Families are unique entities consisted of numerous different characters. Sometimes those personalities work well together and often they clash. It is not always enjoyable and video games in a household so you need to have family conferences to discuss problems that arise. For instance, Bill and Pam have two children: Tom and Shelia. Shelia is 15 years old and looking for herself. She is shy and likes to keep to herself. She has a small group of good friends however is not the most popular in school. She is often teased for her shyness. Tom is 14 years old and plays many sports. He considers himself a sports "star" and hangs out with that crowd at school. Tom likes to be one of those who is always heard, the life of the celebration and he is often the provocateur of jokes, especially on Lynn. The animosity between the brother or sisters makes house life here harder. Tom continuously teases Shelia for being shy and keeping to herself. He is head-strong and stubborn.
Since both parents work full-time to pay the mortgage and other bills, they are uninformed of the intensity of the sibling situation at school and house. They both believe it is just a phase both kids are going through and leave it at that. When Shelia's grades begin to slip at school (which is uncharacteristic of her), a school counselor calls her in. After talking with Lynn, the therapist calls her moms and dads and suggests family therapy so they can exercise the sibling has a hard time together as a family
On that suggestions, Bill and Pam discover time to take their children to therapy and work on things together. After a couple of sessions, Tom is less of a tease and shows more respect to Shelia. Shelia has actually become more open about how she feels and they invest more time together as a family.
